Tip: Open the "more search options" tab and choose "Editorial" next to "Document Type" to narrow your search.

Tip: In Advance Search Mode, limit to the publication name (in the middle of the screen)

- Mainstream Media: corporate-owned , mass, nationally, distributed media
- Examples: NYT, Wall Street Journal, The LA Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Time Magazine, US News and World Report, Fortune Magazine, Business Week, The Christian Science Monitor, and The Boston Globe
- Alternative Media: media owned independently and not by a large corporation
- Examples: The Nation, The Progressive, In These Times, EXTRA, Z Magazine, Harper's Magazine, Covert Action Information Bulletin, Mother Jones, The New York Review of Books,

- AltPress: tremendous site for alternative press titles. Take a title from here and check it in the journal finder to locate it in our library.
- Commondreams: source for alternative news sources with links to other sources
- Zmag: The online version of Z-Magazine with opinions from alternative news sources
